Open Garage at John Stuart's house
January 19, 2008

First Step to doing a conversion is to get the ICE out

The ICE (Internal Compbustion Engine) has to be removed. This car is a front wheel drive, manual transmission, so in order to put the engine, the transmission has to come out at the same time. But, before you can pull that, you must remove the wheels, and remove the axles that go into the transmission.

John Stuart teaches Cello, and admits to being "not very mechanically inclined", so he announced an open garage. A dozen people showed up, and Alfonzo Ranjel, co-founder of ACEAA explained to the group what is involved in converting a car from gas to electric. Car conversions like this are not done in a weekend or two. We will have more open garages, and will be posting more pictures of the project.
